Kailash Kund

Abode of Serpent God Lord Vasukinath Ji, the sacred Kailash Kund, located at 13067 ft above sea level is an enchanting crater lake which remains frozen for a greater part of the year. During late August or early September every year, the scenic environs of this hallowed lake comes alive to the chants of thousands of hindu devotees who undertake an arduous trek from village Gatha in Bhaderwah and then go to Vasuki Nag temple with night stay at Hayin/ Ramtund and there on to Kailash Kund for a holy dip in the Kailash Lake. Believed to be as holy as the sacred Mansarover lake in Tibet in China, a dip in the ice-cold waters of Kailsh Kund is believed to wash away the sins of the yatries and make their wishes come true.

Legend has its that has also been visited by Lord Shiva who described it to Mata Parvati as one of the most important pilgrimmages of northern India in Vasuki Puran. The yatris while taking the holy dip, also worship the lake, Lord Shiva and shri Vasukinag ji.

Bhaderwah is a magnificent bowl shaped valley affording beautiful landscaped vistas with mesmerising natural beauty. It is a veritable paradise even better than Kashmir.
