Jammu, Sep 30, KONS- Kashmiri Pandit groups have come out strongly in support of the BJP sponsored Jammu Bandh today to protest what they term as concessions granted by New Delhi to Kashmiris in the Valley. They have also denounced New Delhi for granting ex-gratia relief to the kin of those killed in recent unrest in Kashmir valley.

The Joint Forum of Kashmiri Pandit organisations including All State Kashmiri Pandit Conference, Panun Kashmir & Non-Camp Migrant Coordination Committee (NCMCC) held a meeting at Jammu and was attended by Ashwani Kumar Chrungoo, President, Panun Kashmir, H.L.Chatta, General Secretary-ASKPC, D.N.Kissu, Chairman, NCMCC, R.K.Raina, Vice President-ASKPC besides others, a statement from the forum said.

The meeting condemned the attitude of the Central government which according to them has succumbed to the pressure of the secessionist elements in Kashmir and announced an eight point package for Kashmir.

While extending their full support to the Bandh call, the meeting appealed people to make the Bandh a resounding success.

Chrungoo in his speech said, "The so-called confidence building measures announced by the Home Minister are blatantly Kashmir centric and totally against the nationalist interests in the J&K state. The idea of asking the Unified command to review and reconsider the areas in which the Disturbed Area Act would be applicable is aimed at diluting the AFSPA in the State. This proposal of the Central government to isolate its security forces and Army in the trouble torn valley by way of diluting the AFSPA is not acceptable to the nationalist forces in the State. The security forces are meant to protect the life and liberty of a vast majority of law abiding citizens and they cannot be left at the mercy of the arsonists and terrorists".

H.L.Chatta while rejecting the concessions given to the 'stone-pelters and secessionist elements' maintained that by way of granting Rupees five lakh to the next of the kin killed in the Kashmir violence, the government seems to justify the anti-India campaign and violence in Kashmir. This is in sharp contrast to the treatment given to the 'martyrs of the Amarnath agitation' in the Jammu region in the year 2008.

"The way the government has awarded the stone pelters and arsonists in the valley is a clear signal for the youth of the other regions and various sections of the population as to how their grievances can be addressed by the governments", he said.

Virender Raina said that the "Kashmiri Pandit community has taken the appointment of the team of Interlocutors very seriously. The members of the community, being the indigenous people of Kashmir, have first and natural claim on the territory of Kashmir. The displacement and resettlement of the Kashmiri Pandit community are very serious political issues which need to be addressed with all seriousness. Full time politicians who have clear understanding of the Jammu and Kashmir affairs should be involved as Interlocutors than the part time so-called experts on Kashmir who are engaged in propagating the secessionist theories on TV channels for quite a long time now".

R.K.Raina said that "while a package of 100 crore rupees for education has been granted in favour of Kashmir valley, there is no allocation of such package for Jammu and Ladakh regions.
