State-wide protests against Autonomy in J&K, BJP organized dharnas in 41 constituencies of the state of J&K
Courtesy Jammu Links News (08.09.2010) : As part of its state-wide protests against Autonomy, BJP organized dharnas in 41 constituencies of the state, which were led by the state office bearers and the local MLAs.
BJP State President Shamsher Singh Manhas, alongwith party MLA Jugal Kishore Sharma, led protest dharna at Nagrota. It was attended by over 600 party activists from different parts of the constituency.
Manhas, on this occasion said that except a handful of leaders of NC, including its president Dr. Farooq Abdullah and Chief Minister Omar Abdullah, no one from the masses in Jammu, Kashmir or Ladakh has uttered even a single word in favour of Autonomy during all these years of Independence. The NC-Congress has failed to come up to the expectations of the people and maintain law and order in the state and hence the Chief Minister is trying to divert the attention of the people from the real problems confronting the state. He said the Autonomy is a dead issue and the only issue which needs to be concentrated on is the implementation of the 1994 unanimous resolution of Parliament of India, which stands for taking back the illegally occupied PoK from Pakistan. He said that Dr. Farooq Abdullah, who is the sitting MP, should honour this resolution and work towards its implementation instead of raking up the issues which are against the interests of the nation.
Member National Executive & former State President Dr. Nirmal Singh, while addressing the dharna at Samba, said that the NC should leave day dreaming over the issue of Autonomy and rather it should stress on abrogation of Article-370 which has induced a sense of separatism and resulted into economic deprivation of the people of the state. It should also understand that the delimitation is the demand of the masses across the state and need to be undertaken at the earliest.
Similar dharnas were organized at Bishnah, Gandhi Nagar, R.S. Pura, Suchetgarh, Marh and Raipur-Domana under the leadership of Sat Sharma (C.A), Rajesh Gupta, Prof. Gharu Ram Bhagat, Shyam Choudhary, Sukhnandan Kumar and Bharat Bhushan respectively.
