FARIDABAD: The visit of Jammu and Kashmir Liberation Front chairmanYasin Malik to Faridabad has created ripples in the city.

About 50 people gathered outside the residence of Sajad Lone in Royal Retreatin Charmwood Village around 6.30 pm on Wednesday to protest against the visit of Malik and his wife Mushaal, who have been staying there for the past fewdays. The protestors demanded Malik leave the city immediately. They also burnt an effigy of the leader. "The protest was organized to convey the anger of the entire country and every single Indian towards communal politics in Kashmir," said Ankit Gupta, one of theprotesters. "Two innocent teenage girls were brutally killed by terrorists daybefore yesterday in Sopore, a stronghold of another separatist mobster, Syed Ali Shah Geelani. Why is Yasin Malik silent on these killings? These killings aren't new. They began long back in 1986," said another protester.

Chanting slogans against Malik, the agitators said he should leave thecity immediately and should come out openly against terrorists, if he claims to be a well-wisher of Kashmiris.

The district police deployed additional force to control the situation. "We had got information from our intelligence wing that Malik is in town and there could be some disturbance. Therefore,we deployed additional force to avoid any untoward law and ordersituation," said Faridabad police commissioner P K Aggarwal. However, a section of the Kashmiri media reported that BJP members had surrounded the apartment where Malik was staying on Wednesday. One of the websites quoted Maliks as saying, "The BJP members are not allowing me to leave the apartment".
