“Swami ki Bauli” in Kud - branch out to other tourist spots like Patnitop, Sudh-Mahadev, Mantalai, Sanasar and other sites of religious significance

KUD is 106 kms from Jammu. This popular resort is situated on the Jammu-Srinagar highway, at an altitude of 1738 metres. An ideal picnic spot this place has a bracing climate. Heavy woolens are required in winters while as light/medium clothing is required in summers. It is a very well developed hill station in Udhampur District.

There are excellent camping site in the adjoining areas in the widerness. the Sundarani-Jangal Gali-JasarKote-Sanasar route can be taken from here. The tourism Department has Trekking equipment Hire shop here. These Shops stock local and Imported trekking gear.Equipment is available against a security deposit. If you are a foregn national then your passport will be kept as deposit. Some travel agencies also organise trekking around this area.

Kud - Enroute Srinagar from Jammu, Kud is a popular stop of the tourists. It is a hill resort in its own authority with a small but well-known mountain spring called “Swami ki Bauli”. Natural beauty in Kud exceeds any type of description. This place is also good for small treks and options for adventure sports are being considered in the nearby areas.

Barely 106 km out of Jammu, at an altitude of 5,500 ft in the lower Himalayan, Kud is a perfect holiday destination. The 3-hour drive to Kud takes you through a breathtaking landscape that is intersected by the River Chenab.

The region is a veritable trekker's paradise. The thickly wooded slopes with its winding roads are perfect trekking territory. Your only companions here will be the chirping birds that follow your progress down the trail and the crisp mountain air. You can rejuvenate yourself at one of the three ice-cold freshwater springs in the area, which are said to have medicinal properties.

From here you can branch out to other tourist spots like Patnitop, Sudh-Mahadev, Mantalai, Sanasar and other sites of religious significance. Patnitop is a popular starting point for short or longer treks into the nearby mountains.
