...don't idle cars go forward automatically anyways? If they really wanted to show that the mountain is that magnetic they would've just tossed a magnet into the air and it would've gone flying towards the mountain....
xzc426 1 year ago
@xzc426 any kind of magnetic force (including gravitational) depends on the mass of 2 bodies involved and is so meagre that if the earth's mass would not have been what it is, we wud hav been flying all around.
so, when we talk about a magnetic hill and a magnet, the force would be so negligible that the magnet won't move at all. brush up your lessons on physics
fmsite 1 year ago 2
What law of gravity is being defied? Don't idling cars drift downhill everywhere?
strathmeyer 1 year ago 4
@strathmeyer the gravity pulls everything down which means that any idle car on a downhill road will start moving down on its own.
Here, on this spot (30 km from Leh), the road goes upwards and if the car is left idle, it still moves ahead. It is said to be caused due to the magnetic force of the Grand Hill on the front.
fmsite 1 year ago
the road goes downwards, quite clearly actually. there are dozens of places like this in the world, the surroundings act as an optical illusion making it look like the road slopes upwards.
thesurgeon 1 year ago 5
@thesurgeon that observation is interesting and the road moving uphill might be just an optical illusion. I suppose, I would like to measure that scientifically. One can measure the altitude at two ends of road or measure the magnetic pull at that spot otherwise there is no confirmation whether the road is uphill or downhill

Its not any magnetic properties or such. Its an Optical illusions which makes us think that the road is Uphill but actually its downhill thereby enabling the vehicles to move itself. There are many other magnetic hills(or gravity hills) all over the world.
but anyways, good to see ppl. having fun ;-)
Enjoy !

Snowfall - Leh, Ladakh - India (enroute Changla Pass) -2008
meghnavira | August 05, 2008 | 12 likes, 0 dislikes
Video is on the way to Changla Pass from Pangong Lake... It was snowing throughout.. therefore couldn't get a good view of the lake... however it was the first snowfall for some of us.. that kinda compensated the whole thing and will look forward in seeing the Pangong Lake next time we go. However we did go to Tsomoriri - will put in videos of the same in due course.
The surprising factor was Snow in the month of July as it is the hottest month in Leh !

I tried going overland by bike (Bullit500) on the dirt track called NH 21 many times, and only 4 was succesful either due to weather (often snowstorm in midsummer!) road condition and/or mecanical probs. Acclimatizing is a must and mandatory if you come direct from sealevel and isn't on suicide misson... still stupidity kills plp every year (it is, after all named the GREATER Himalayas) lethal stuff like pulmonal or cerebral oedema and coma [not to mention traffic, climbing and other accidents!

you'll definitely be better off flying with jet airways and the flight is a much better option than the drive up through the mountains

yes your so right.... but Jet left one hour earlier so IA was the only option (only seat was on business class 196$ (!) economy was full) ... i have flown JA from Leh down Delhi the year before and its for sure a better deal (newer fleet and better food) than IA. namaskar from copenhagen

Leh and the Ladakh Festival
contemporarynomad | October 22, 2008 | 8 likes, 0 dislikes
Our latest video takes in the sites and sounds of the Ladakh festival in Leh, a showcase for Ladakhi culture. Traditional dancing, polo, masked Chaam dances at Spituk monastery, and more. The festival takes place in September every year, and, although it is clearly geared towards tourists, it is a great way to catch a glimpse of the various ethnic groups of Ladakh and their spectacular clothing. And it's not just the dancers, many older Ladakhis, dressed in their finest, come to watch the festivities - great for people-watching.
The video begins with an overview of Leh and its surroundings. The first dancers in the video wearing the distinctive turquoise-studded peraks are Ladakhi and Zanskari, whom might be considered the "true Ladakhis". The people wearing the flower headdresses are Dha Hanu, also known as the Dards, from the border regions near Pakistan. (We often see them in the markets selling dried fruit, they're absolutely fascinating.) The women wearing red veils represent Muslim Ladakhis, most of whom live in the west near the border with Kashmir.

Ladkah Music Festival - Jammu & Kashmir
kathitabcn | May 03, 2008 | 8 likes, 0 dislikes
This video was filmed in India in 2006
The colourful harvest celebration - the Ladakh Festival is a beautiful festival. It last for a whole week. There are buddhist mask dances, polo games and a lot of other things going on. Don't miss it when you are in India during this time. Leh is very Tibetan (in my opinion even more Tibetan than Tibet itself)
Travel Tip:
To get to Ladakh overland you will have to go via the Manali Highway unless you are coming from Shrinagar. It is a murderish highway and it was the only time I suffered from accute mountain sickness. No fun, I tell you. Take it easy the first days in Leh until you get used to the altitude.

J&K Academy of Art, Culture and Languages organised All India Urdu Mushaira at Abhinav Theatre
courtsy: Jammu Links News(28.01.2011):
Member legislative assembly from Lolab, Abdul Haque Khan declared the function open. Other guests of honour included advisor to state chief minister, Mubarak Gul, MLA, Darhal, Choudhary Zulfiqar, MLC, Murtaza Khan and director Doordarshan Kendra, Srinagar Dr. Rafeeq Masoodi.
Earlier welcoming the guest’s additional secretary, Cultural Academy, Shamima Akhter said that the All India Urdu Mushaira is an annual event and the Cultural Academy had been holding it since early 60’s. She said the Academy would continue the practice in future also.
Speaking on the sidelines of the mushaira, advisor to state chief minister, Mubarak Gul said that the Cultural Academy should continue the practice of holding the All India Urdu Mushaira as such steps were instrumental in promoting national integration.
Echoing Gul noted broadcaster and media consultant of Jammu and Kashmir government, Farooq Nazki said that by holding such national level mushaira’s the Cultural Academy was promoting national integration.
Narrating his experience Bihar based poet, Manzar Aijaz said that the Urdu mushaira was a good platform for a poet like him and he was thankful to the Academy of Art, Culture and Languages for inviting him and others to such an event.
The mushaira was participated by several poets of national repute and included such names as Aijaz Ansari, Manzar Aijaz, Shams Tabrez, Ajaz Popular, Irshad Ghayal, Mamta Singh and Nayeem Akhter Khadmi among others from outside state.
The local poets of note, who participated in the mushaira, included Muzaffar Iraj, Hamdam Kashmiri, Rafeeq Raaz, Arsh Sehbai, Sham Talib, and Amin Banihali among others.
The proceedings of the mushaira were conducted by poet – litterateur Ayaz Rasool Nazki.
BJP State Chief Spokesperson & National Executive Member Dr. Jitendra Singh released the names of Kashmir-based activists
Some of these activists were arrested before or during the yatra and were released on bail but inspite of that they are being regularly summoned to the police stations on the pretext of interrogation and subjected to mental and physical torture.
The issue raises question mark on the intention of the administration, which is on one hand talking of rehabilitating youth, who had crossed over to PoK and stone pelters who indulged in anti-India movement, and on the other hand discouraging the local youth who are voluntarily willing to take part in mainstream pro-India activity in the valley.
Afzal Guru moves SC for transfer to J&K jail from Tihar by Jammu Links
by Jammu Links
Jaish-e-Mohammed terrorist Mohd Afzal Guru, awaiting death penalty in Tihar Jail following his conviction for plotting terror attack on Parliament in 2001, has moved the Supreme Court for shifting him to a jail in Jammu and Kashmir.
In his petition, filed through advocate Kamakhya Singh Mahilwal, Guru has pleaded to apex court for a direction tothe Delhi government to shift him to a jail in his nativestate on the ground of convenience to his family members.
In his petition, Guru sought his shifting out from Tihar Jail saying his stay in a jail in his native state would be more convenient for his family members, who cannot come all the way to Delhi every now and then to meet him.
The court was slated to hear Afzal Guru plea on Friday, but Mahilwal told PTI that she has requested the court to adjourn the hearing to next week.
Accordingly, the matter is likely to be adjourned today, she added.
Guru was convicted on terror charges by an anti-terrorcourt in December 2002

Machail Yatra - The holy journey of Machail shrine
courtesy: http://mykishtwar.blogspot.com/
Padder in district Kishtwar has much of its own to offer. It is situated in the bank of the river Chenab offering a unique and fascinating sight of the location. Padder has the unique distiction of having the sacred shrines of Mata Chandi lacated at an altitude of 9,500ft. at Machail village surrounded by high mountains, deodar forest and attractiove meadows adjacent to world famous sapphire mines area. Machail Yatra has its origin in Mahalakshmi temple at pacca Danga. The yatra starts with a religious procession which passes through Jain Bazar, Lionk Road, Purani Mandi, Raghunath Bazar and Indira Chowk and then joins the yatra at Chinote Bhaderwah.
The holy journey of Machail shrine is about 320 kms. from Jammu city. The foot journey of 31 kms. from Atholi to Machail is a treasure of nature's glimpses, attractions, enroute temples, caves bubbling streams, springs greenery and at some places sharp naked mountains peaks with night halls at Massu, Chishoti and Machail village. The worship of the goddess continues at halting stations till late night.
The Yatra usually commences from Aug 18 every year from Chinote Bhaderwah. The Yatries have been permitted by the Yatra management “Sarv Shakti Sevak Sanstha” to undertake pilgrimage from 10th of august itself to avoid rush and have glimpses of goddess. The most important and impressive aspect of the machail yatra is the unique holy mace of the goddess which remains ahead of the pilgrims to provide strength and inspiration to the pilgrims enroute.
According to a legend Thakur Kulbir singh ji, the goddess chain appeared at machail long-long ago in the shape of shila (Pindi). Maa chandi came here from ancient place Mindal Battas(HP) to bless the simple, ignorant and helpless people of Padder area.
The main reception station of famous Machail Yatra include Bhala, Puldoda, Premnagar, Thathri, Kishtwar, Atholi, Massu, Chishoti and Machail where religious congregation and bhandaras are organized to highlight the importance of religion and yatra. The distance of about 200kms of the yatra from its base camp up to Gulabgarh padder is covered by bus in 3 days. Local people also welcome pilgrims in their houses from the core of hearts and offers every possible facility within their reach to the pilgrims free of cost treatment them as guests of goddess Chandi. The devotional songs and holy couplets sung and chanted in local padre language add to the charm of the holy dances throughout the day. Havans are also performed by the devotees for their peace and satisfication.
The Chandi dham Machail has the distinction of the simultaneously appearance of Shiv and shakti. On the one hand, the goddess Chandi (Shakti) is blessing her devotees at Machail village while on the other hand God Mahadev abruptly appears on the opposite high mountain in the shape of Lingam to provide darshans to the pilgrims on the pious occasion of the Shakti yatra. The mountain is called Shiv Pahad which often remains covered with black clouds. It is unique union of shiv and Shakti found in Machail only and nowhere else in our country. It is a historical fact that the great General Zorawar Singh on his way to conquer Gilgit first bowed his head before the goddess to get her blessings. It is said that the goddess in structured her senior disciple to accompany Zorawar singh to gigit and come back with flying colours and this fact stands reflected in the Aarti of Machail yatra.
The Bhote river is a companion all along the journey from Gulabgarh, Atholi to Machail. The work of construction of road from Gulabgarh Padder to Machail which is in progress needs to be speeded up so that places like Massu, Garh, Leondi, Deondi, Kundel, Cheshoti, Hamori are connected. A famous hot water spring at Tatapani has its own significance where people rush to hav bath to grt relief from pains in joints and skins disorders. The yatra is manned and conducted by a state level registered soial-cum-sprituial organization, ‘Sarv Shakti sevak sanstah” first of its kind ever formed in the state. The district and divisional aministratin also extended its helping hand to the sanstha by way of deputing medica and wireless teams, yatra officers, volunteers, security staff and deployment of pilgrims vehicles to make the yatra a grand success. The machail yatra is continuously becoming popular day by day.
Also the famous sapphires mines of Padder happen to here. The state govt. must take it up in its hands for extraction of gems on a scientific and sustained basis. At machail one cannot and should not afford to miss the chance to visit Gumpas which are only 3kms away.

BJP to file case against J&K govt. by PTI
by PTI
http://www.thehindu.com/news/national/article1134063.ece
Terming as “illegal and unconstitutional” the actions of Jammu and Kashmir authorities to prevent it from hoisting the tricolour at Srinagar’s Lal Chowk, the Bharatiya Janata Party on Friday said it would file cases against the State government and move a breach of privilege motion in the Assembly.
“BJP will file cases against the Omar government for disrespecting the national flag in Kashmir, torturing workers, denying permission to MLAs to fly to Kashmir and also our right to hoist the tricolour in Kashmir,” BJP State president Shamsher Singh Manhas told reporters in Jammu.
“The process in this direction will be completed in a couple of days. Proof has been collected and other legal formalities are being completed,” he said.
Terming the actions of J&K administration as “illegal and unconstitutional,” he said, “This all has been done by Omar Abdullah to further the agenda of the separatists of Kashmir.”
The leader of the BJP legislative party and former Union Minister Chama Lal Gupta said the party would also move a privilege motion in the Assembly.
“No cases were registered against the police and administration for detaining us at Jammu airport gate. No cases were registered for disrespect to tricolour at Lal Chowk, where BJP activists were detained,” Mr. Gupta alleged.
“Why were then cases registered against BJP activists for gheraoing car of a State Minister and for disrespect to State flag. When a policeman hurled a shoe at Omar at Independence Day function in Srinagar, he flew him to his native place in a State chopper,” Mr. Gupta said.
The leaders said that they would also move the National Human Rights Commission and the State rights body over the issue.
“We believe in one flag, one Chief Minister and one Constitution of India,” Mr. Manhas said.
The BJP leaders also raised the issue of a BJP woman activist who was allegedly abducted in Budgam district of Kashmir.
Haleema Bano, 35, who had unsuccessfully contested the 2008 Assembly elections from Uri constituency on a BJP ticket, was admitted to hospital with 7 per cent burns. She told the police that she was abducted from Shiekhpura area of Budgam district on January 24 and was tortured by her abductors who released her on Friday at Soibugh in the same district.
A senior police officer said in Sringar that investigations were on into the claims of Ms. Bano.

LASDEL, the destiny by Karma, is an effort by the three men, Mr. Tsering Wangdus Lonpo, Dorjey Wangchuk Mogol and Tsering Dorjey Khangsar from the land of second moon, Ladakh, India. The trio works under the banner of "Ladakh Vision Group" which is one of the first private groups to produce movies in Ladakh in its own language, Bhoti.
After the success of four movies, this is the fifth movie which has recently released in Ladakh on 8th February 2009. The beautiful landscape through the lenses shows how green this part of broken moon could be.
The most interesting thing about the movie is that none of the people who are involved in the movie is professionally trained; from the director to the light man, none is professional It took just two months to complete the movie under the harsh conditions in the remote parts of Ladakh.

पन्द्रेथान Temple still speaks of its grandeur and majestic look
The existing temple now stands in the midst of water tank which is fed by natural spring। The walls of its platform remains submerged almost throughout of the year. The temple structure is fairly good state of preservation, symmetry and restraint in ornamentation. Made of ashlar stone masonery (dressed Devri stone) and the temple stands on a fairly high platform. The platform in tri-ratha on plan, the front side (north-north-west) having further divided with central projection accommodating the flight of steps with a moulded parapet.
The walls of the temple rest on a projecting member relieved with the forepart of a series of squatting elephant in the attitude of the supporting the load of the structure। The feature is unique Indian temple architecture found here, otherwise the Gandharva or celestial figures have been depicted bearing the load of the temple in other part of the country. The temple has main entrance form the east through a causeway. The level of water in the tank fluctuate with season. The ceiling of the sanctum exquisitely carved in comparison to the plain walls. It is made of lime stone slabs arranged in three oversailing courses. The four slabs of the middle course are relieved each with a flying Vidyadhara carrying a ring like object in his right hand and a lotus stalk in the left hand. A part of the scarf is seen floating in the air a Greek feature in the valley. A full blown lotus with twelve full petals is reproduced on the topmost square slab. This particular stone has been found invariably in all the Hindu temples as it signifies the ceiling stone slab over the main idol of the temple in the garbha-griha or sanctum sanctorum.
Payar temple, about 10 kilo meter from Avantipura (N H 1 A ) in Pulwama Distt. Was probably built during the same period is a miniature replica of the Pandrethan. The Payar has been constructed on a high platform with superstructure with 10 pieces of stones. These two temples complete in all respect considered Genes of Kashmiri as the temple architecture.
The monuments has been protected by the ASI under the ancient Monuments and Archaeological Sites And Remains Act, 1958 and the structural consevation has been carried by ASI. The day to day maintains and up to keep has been carried out by the Indian army.

Yatra stopped to please Kashmir separatists, says BJP IANS
IANS
http://timesofindia.indiatimes.com/india/Yatra-stopped-to-please-Kashmir-separatists-says-BJP/articleshow/7366949.cms
JAMMU: Taking both the central and Jammu and Kashmir governments to task for stopping the Bhartiya Janta Party's planned " Ekta Yatra" (integration march) at Lakhanpur, senior party leaders said Wednesday this was done "to please the separatists".
"Both the central and the state governments have surrendered ideologically and psychologically to separatists," said senior BJP leader Arun Jaitley at a press conference in Jammu, referring to the government's "illegal actions" in stopping the yatra.
He was also referring to Jammu Kashmir Liberation Front chairman Yasin Malik, charged with murder of four Indian Air Force Officers, who had declared that he would not allow the BJP to hoist the national flag at the historic Lal Chowk.
Jammu and Kashmir chief minister Omar Abdullah also had spoken against the BJP's plan and ordered the state machinery to do everything to stop the yatra and foil the BJP move.
Jaitley said the central government and the ministries of home and railways were guilty of "the crime of hijacking" by diverting the trains carrying the BJP workers on their way to join the "Ekta Yatra".
The party launched its yatra Jan 12 in Kolkata with an objective of unfurling the national flag at Lal Chowk in Srinagar on the Republic Day.
Arun Jaitley, along with Leader of Opposition in the Lok Sabha Sushma Sawraj and Ananth Kumar, was detained at Jammu airport Monday and taken to Madhopur in Punjab.
They again marched to Jammu and Kashmir Tuesday with hundreds of the party workers carrying the national flags.
They were arrested and released from the hotel in Kathua, 85 km south of Jammu, where they were lodged at 12.40pm Wednesday.
The leaders alleged they were denied even the basic facilities of toilet and drinking water for more than two hours at the Jammu airport. They were given access to the terminal building only after home minister P Chidambaram intervened that day.
Earlier Wednesday, talking to media persons outside the hotel in Kathua, Sushma Sawraj said: "Tiranga Yatra has concluded because it was to culminate Jan 26 - Republic Day."
She said it is for the government to answer as to why "the two leaders of opposition (she and Arun Jaitley) were kept in custody on the Republic Day".
The Jammu and Kashmir government withdrew all the cases against them of violating prohibitory orders in Kathua to facilitate their release.
Chief minister Omar Abdullah had invited the BJP leaders to attend the Republic Day celebrations at Jammu or Srinagar. But they turned down the ofer, saying it was a self-contradiction.
BJP dubs Lal Chowk flag-hoisting ban 'criminal', mulls moving court PTI
PTI
Jan 26, 2011, 10.12pm IST
NEW DELHI: Dubbing the move of the Jammu and Kashmir government and the Centre to prevent BJP leaders from hoisting the national flag in Srinagar as "criminal", BJP on Wednesday said the party could move the court against the "unconstitutional and illegal" stand taken by the state administration.
"What has happened in J&K to deal with BJP's campaign to hoist the national flag at Lal Chowk is something which is totally indefensible....it is illegal and criminal. I think we should knock at the doors of the courts in respect of some of (these issues)," party veteran L K Advani said here.
He said the way special trains carrying BJP workers to Jammu and Srinagar were either cancelled or diverted had not happened even during the Emergency.
Advani was addressing a gathering of BJP workerrs to felicitate Leaders of Opposition in the Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha Sushma Swaraj and Arun Jaitley respectively, and Ananth Kumar who had participated in the Ekta Yatra undertaken by the party's youth wing.
Advani also questioned the way the three BJP leaders were issued externment orders and forced to leave Jammu. "Under no law people can be deported under prohibitory orders," he said.
He said the onus to explain the ban imposed on BJP leaders to unfurl the national flag at Lal Chowk was on both the Centre and the state government.
Referring to his conversation with Prime Minister Manmohan Singh on the issue a couple of days ago, he said he had questioned the move of bundling out BJP leaders from Jammu. "How can this happen, I told the Prime Minister," the BJP leader said.
He claimed the stand of the Congress government had become clear during the Emergency. "Now that stand has come out in the open again," BJP parliamentary party chairman said.
He said the issue of corruption and black money stashed abroad were related to the UPA government and it was time these issues were debated at the national fora.
A muted response to minority killings by Sana Saleem
by Sana Saleem
http://blog.dawn.com/2010/06/01/a-muted-response-to-minority-killings/
Incomprehensible. That is the only word I can use to express my feelings about the indifference of people, the authorities, and the media towards the attacks against the Ahmadi community in Lahore on Friday. Attacks that were carried out in broad daylight, killing over 90 people and injuring many others. Attacks that turned into a hostage situation with over 1500 people at risk of being killed or fatally injured.
I am disappointed that there is no one to protest and lament the killings, especially since the Ahmadi community seems to have been silenced by years of discrimination and persecution. I was six years old and attending a Quran class when the maulvi sahib blatantly refused to teach two of my friends, Maham and Rija. I remember his words, his eyes flaming with hate as he refused to let them sit in his class, or even touch ‘their’ Quran. I did not understand why no one protested, why they had chosen to leave the room silently, as if the hate and discrimination was expected. I found myself in the same dilemma on Friday, when after one of the largest attacks against them in the history of Pakistan, this was the only official statement issued on behalf of the Ahmadi community:
Despite what has happened no Ahmadi has taken to the streets in protest; no Ahmadi has displayed anything but patience. Instead we have turned towards God and prayed for the victims, for their bereaved relatives and for the long term peace and prosperity of Pakistan. We will continue with this example no matter what is thrown at us in the full certainty that God is with us and always will be.
The only reality check regarding this horrifying episode has come from a woman who was attending to one of the people wounded in Friday’s attacks. She refused to accept a bouquet from Interior Minister Rehman Malik, and went on to lambast him for inadequate security provisions at the sites of worship. It was indeed ironic to see dozens of security guards accompany the interior minister to his trip to the hospital to visit the survivors of Friday’s attacks. If only half of those were present to guard the two sites that came under attack, this incident could have been prevented, or, if nothing else, casualties could have been minimised. There is thus absolutely no justification for this act of negligence.
Meanwhile, the social networks have also been abuzz with outrage. Twitter, in particular, was flooded with messages of condemnation, shock, and horror. Many were disgusted by the way in which media outlets were describing the sites that were attacked as ‘worship places’ instead of ‘mosques.’ Others accused the media of downplaying the casualties. Someone remarked how a popular news channel’s comments suggesting ‘worship places should have their own security’ were derogatory and inhumane. There were debates on whether the media channels will count those killed as ‘martyrs,’ and if not, then why not?
Here’s the thing: I do not care whether those killed on Friday will be labeled martyrs or not. It does not make a difference to me whether the authorities have traced the terrorist outfit responsible for this attack. I remain enraged that most of us refuse to recognise the attacks as a human rights issue, and, most importantly, as a violation of minority rights. And by ‘most of us,’ I am referring to those of us who are neither politicians, scholars, clerics, or media personnel. I have lived in Pakistan long enough not to expect the authorities to be sensitive towards the real issues of the people. But the public framing of Friday’s attacks is about the underlying hate, discrimination, and religious bigotry that has been suffocating us for years. This is about those of us who choose to use religion to justify inhumanity despite the gory images showing attacks on innocent civilians.
There is no justification for killing unarmed civilians – no religion or legal system allows a bunch of people to take the law in their hands and carry out barbaric acts of terror.
Today, I must confess that I am scared of the uncertainties the future holds. I fear that this attack might be one of many to come. And most of all, I fear that another attempt will be similarly downplayed and labeled an act of terrorism, rather than a violation of minority rights. The stabbing of an Ahmadi man at Narowal on Monday further strengthens my fears, especially as the threats of the assailant to “not leave any Ahmadi alive” serve as uncanny reminders of state-sanctioned discrimination against the Ahmadi community.
I feel that in our attempts to prove ourselves so-called pious Muslims and patriotic Pakistanis we have left humanity far behind. Our sympathies have become political, and our humanity has been compromised. Somewhere in our tussle to become pioneers of Islam and the darling of the West, we have stopped being human. For every atrocity that unfolds around us, we have a home-made conspiracy theory, a religious justification, or a history lesson with which to identify the culprits. But amid this information overload, the atrocities go ignored, priorities remain distorted, and the massacre continues.
For every one who witnessed the horrendous killings of Ahmadis this past week, I have one question: how many Garhi Shahos and Gojras will it take for us to stop abusing religious beliefs to justify killing innocent people?

Thanks for writing this thought provoking article. We need to abolish discriminatory laws from the constitution of Pakistan in order to discourage discrimination and hatred against Ahmadis. I strongly condemn this discrimination in the name of Islam.
My heart cries on killing of innocent and unarmed civilians who gathered to pray before almighty God, who is not private property of any specific religion.

The name of the first foreign Minister was Al-Hajj Sir Chaudhry Muhammad Zafarullah Khan, KCSI (6 February 1893 – 1 September 1985) was a also a personal friend and trusted adviser of Muhammad Ali Jinnah. He did not offer prayers at his friend’s and the Father of the nation’s funeral because the man leading the funeral prayers Maulana Usmani had called Zafarullah Khan a “kafir” and had had proclaimed him “wajib -e qatl”. Had he offered funeral prayers behind this “jahil” maulana , all hell would have broken loose. In order to avoid this fiasco, he decided to stay on the sidelines. There were no issues with Muhammad Ali Jinnah but the issue was with the Jahil Maulana.
Just for your information -Maulana Maudoodi did not offer funeral prayers as well. I would like to know the reason why?

All so called liberal muslims commenting that ahmedis should have freedom to call themselves muslims, should know that Mr.Mirza declared and Ahmedis believe all of us (non-ahmedis) to be non-muslims.
Proof is on ahmedi website itself:
http://www.alislam.org/library/books/Truth-about-the-Split.pdf pg.70 & 71
(the ahmedi caliph author of the book subsequently testifies the belief that non-ahmedis are kafirs!)
Ahmedis call us non-muslims, and then tell us(in comments) that calling anyone non-muslim is wrong!! Wake up people to their deceptive tactics.

In fact, God Almighty has taught Muslims to work for the good of mankind, to guide them towards that which is good, to invite them towards God, their Creator, and to fulfil the obligations that they Now, let us see what the Holy Qur’an says about a True Muslim. @ GH : it is available definitely
@ Abdul: I certainly did not mean that, infact i’ve condemned the attacks strongly.
@Mubashir: So you saying its ‘OK’ if ahmedis categorically call non-ahmedis muslims. And ahmedis have been declared so unanimously by all learned Islamic scholars. Such an exclusion is unprecedented in the history of Islam and reflects the strongly diverging views of the community.
The attack is condemnable and it is sad too that such forums are being used for propagation of ahmedi religious beliefs in response to which I had to object.
This forum is principally for discussing minority rights and should not be converted into a religious debate.
Mubashir says:

So you want to stop Ahmadis from propagating their faith but same time you are trying to create hatred emotions against them. Which are most harmful for our society.
Only condemning is not sufficient. Change in behavior against Shias, Ahmadis, Christians & Hindus is needed to make our country Quaid’s Pakistan.

Sana, I really admire your blog and the comments of all those who have participated in this blog, espacially those who do not belong to the Ahmadiyya Community.
May All help you all in your endeavours and give you courage and strength to keep raising voice fro the oppressed ones. Actually, this is the real message of Islam i.e. peace.
All we have to do is to speak the truth and say the Right as Right and Wrong as Wrong without any personal belongings. e.g. if a wrong is committed by our own Pakistani/Saudi/Muslim, we have to say it WRONG and condemn it. Similarly if any right is done by any Israeli/American/Jew/Hindu, we have to say it RIGHT and appreciate it.
please note that if majority of us start practicing the above principle, the days of the final success will not be far away, when the flag of Islam (peace) will fly high all around the world and there will be no oppression/persecution in the world and every one will get his rights.
May Allah help us all to spread and practice the real Islam not only in letter but also with spirit. May Allah be always with true followers of Islam.

People keep asking about our reaction or they ask to react somehow but our response is to be patient and to pray in the hour of need as told by The Holy Prophet PBUH ………….
There was no screaming at others, no one was out on the streets , there were only sounds of people praying and reciting Darood Sharif even at the time when the attack was going on and that was how we reacted and will be steadfast in being patient and with our prayers before Allah Inshallah and such was the example of the Sahaba Ikram the true followers of The Holy Prophet PBUH…….

Indeed a well written piece. After this terrorist attack, i myself have read in many newspapers the Mullas comments about Ahmadies. One of them said that there should be some law of death sentenced for the Ahmadies as they are Murtaid.
I want to ask Mullas why they are unaware of ISLAM’s teachings. Once they have been declared as minorities, now it is our responsibility to give them protection. They are pakistanis and they are the part of country’s assets.
One of the biggest scientists Dr.Abdus Salam was not given so much importance what he deserved only because he was an Ahmadi.
Stop this discrimination. As a pakistani nation, we were looked down my all developed countries, the economy of the country is going down day by day, the shortage of wheat ,electricity gas and water is playing bad role in pakistan’s growth. The poverty is on its climax. There is no peace in the country.

I think no body is interested to follow the gist and spirit of religion, and it is being used as a tool for worldly gains, which is very sad. When we claim that we are the best and rest should follow us then why we our selves don’t follow our own creed? I can only pray for religious leaders who are making things even more difficult to understand. There is only one simple question to ask from those who blindly follow religious leaders that, how can they guide us when they are unable to unite by them selves?

This Looks coming true as like Pakistan and its Islam has gone to Mullahs.
What will it achieve as a nation after killing so many innocents in the name of religion. Is religion above humanity ?
Name a single “constructive “achievement of Pakistan as a nation , which was achieved due to following Mullah’s religion.
Any self respective Muslim should always questions to self everyday, did Allah given me life to go to Madressa, become a terrorist and blowup self, or to go to English school, spread education to needy kids, help poor, spread love instead of hate and to be called a Human first then a Muslim. Otherwise what is the difference between Human and Animal. Allah has given brain to human to think, those who just follow Mullahs being brainwashed are like dogs on street and not a true Muslim.

Your heart is in the right place but dogs do not kill fellow dogs this way. Animals are way too nobler than these humans. Allah has created humans to be a part of the tapestry of universe; Not to be the supreme animal. Thats why dogs, humans and even a banana share over 90% of identical genetic material. Humans like dogs are meant to serve the universe and inturn derive purpose though life on this universe.

The names of those parties will show their agenda and confirm who was really behind the attacks. It also shows the stew in which these fanatics are boiling. They indulge in this sort of Fatwa-bazi since they do not want to be exposed about dearth of their knowledge about real Islam. Shame on these parties for the hollowness of their souls. so the treatment meated out to ahmadiyyas is no surprise. most surprising thing was that no body was willing to call killed ahmadiyyas as martyrs. no Muslim politician even cared to visit their funeral. even that enlightened and so called ‘honest and fair’ person like Imran khan, who minces no words in criticizing the US and others when a Muslim is killed.

You called Ahmadis as minority. What will be your response if sometimes in future the Sunni Majority in Pakistan declare Shias as minority. God forbid, this should not happen.
I know there are Muslims who are “Zaanee”, “Qaatil”, “Mazaar Parast”, “killers of last three Khalifahs and Imam Hussain, believers of Hazrat Ali to be a prophet of Allah yet no one calls them a Non-Muslim or Kaafir. It is my feeling that regardless of what misleading things Mirza Ghulam Ahmad preached, it does not amount to Shirk or rejection of existence of Allah, His prophets (specially the Holy Prophet Mohammad) and His Books and the Day of Judgment. No one has a right to pronounce anyone as Non-Muslim or Kafir who says Kalima even if it is from lips only as only Allah knows what is in his heart. Have we Muslims exceeded the limits set by Allah to call one who recites Kalima, a Non-Muslim or Kafir?

The attack on Ahmadies is a disgrace for any free country and its people. The Ahmadies are a minority in Pakistan and every Pakistani should be ashamed of the situation when any minority in the country is persecuted. Every major religion including Islam guarantees safety and freedom of its minorities. Those responsible for this criminal act should be brought to justice as soon as possible. If we fail to respect the rights of our minorities then we are proving that we are not capable to be free people. Freedom is for those people/citizens who are capable of exercising the freedom in a responsible manner. Those who performed these disgraceful actions have neither served Islam nor the cause of freedom.

I agree with you Pakistan must protect its minority. But the main debate is here whether Ahmadis are Non-Muslims. I assume you are with those who consider them as Non-Muslims.
As I undestand Pakistan can prosecute an Ahmadi who says “Assalamo-Alaikum” to a Muslim. The fact is all over the world Arab Christians say “Assalamo-Alaikum” to Muslims and no Islamic country including Pakistan prosecute Christians, who are Non-Muslims, to say “Assalamo-Alaikum” to Muslims. What kind of “Jungle Law” is this that no Christians prosecuted but Ahmadis, who say the same kalimah like rest of us are prosecuted.

I fully endorse the first right and condemn the killing. I do not endorse their right to call themselves Muslim and call me Kafir. I excercise my right to call them non-Muslim and that is the consensus of Muslims. Only non-Muslims recognize this right of Ahmedies to call me a Kafir.

If only you had read Quran and Hadith, you would know that you have NO RIGHT WHATSOEVER to call anyone else Non-Muslim if they say Kalima and believe that they are Muslim. For the record, no Ahmadi declares any one else Kaafir… we are taught better than that. Only Allah is the judge of what is in anyone’s heart.

Farooqi Sb,
Who gave you the divine right to call someone Muslim or non-Muslim. First think if you can call yourself Muslim or not. By just being born to Muslim Parents and having a Muslim sounding name does not make you a Muslim.
Allah has not given you authority to Judge people, its only Allah who will judge people based on their deeds be it Ahmadi or you on the day of Judgment.
Do you think you have authority to judge others then you are simply defying Allah’s command.
Faras says:
June 8, 2010 at 20:11
MR Farooqi,
I am a Muslim, born in Pakistan and I shudder to think that you have the audacity to judge who can be called a muslim. If you read what the hadith and Quran say about Islam then 99% of not only Pakistan but the entire Muslim world has no right to be calling themselves “Muslims”. And yes that includes you. It is the deeds of a person that determines if he or she is a follower of Islam not what you or the government think. You are worried about Ahmadies calling themselves Muslims, have you ever thought of calling on your neighbor to make sure he is in good health and have enough to eat, have you ever gone to a leper centre and helped the sick and poor, have you ever made sure that the widows are protected, if you have not than you are the one who should be called a “Muslim”. It is ignorance like yours that is likely to hurt “Muslims” not the Ahmadies from my point of view they can call themselves Saints. Read Surah Ikhlas: and you may understand his magnanimity.
Shame on you!

What is a definition of Muslim? Sunni’s think they have the definition, Shia’s think it is their definition, Bralevi thinks it is their definition, Deobandi think it is their definition, etc. There was an exercise in Pakistan late 50s or early 60s to define what is a Muslim by government. That attempt to define Muslim fell on its face. So, my friend lets leave the judegement up to ALLAH. Only by his judgement we will know who really is a true Muslim.
I would urge you brother to read and understand your religion. Judgement is up to ALLAH. We will all be held accountable for our deeds so plz be prepared for your own deeds rather than someone else’s.

Dear Sana,
I would like to congratulate you on taking a step forward. Pakistani’s and Muslims needs to understand these terrors are following the absolutely wrong philosophy of Taliban and Al Qaeda who beleive in use of force and sword to propagate their philosophy (which is definitely against the peaceful teachings of Islam)
No Muslim (a true Muslim) has ever beleived that the Islam should be spread by the sword. Islam has always been propagated through its inherent qualities. Those who, calling themselves Muslims, seek to spread Islam by means of the sword are not aware of its inherent qualities and their conduct resembles the conduct of wild beasts. The Holy Quran clearly forbid the use of force for the spread of the faith and directs its propagation through its inherent qualities and good example of Muslims. Do not be misled by the notion that in the beginning the Muslims were commanded to take up the sword. The sword was taken up for the spread of the faith, but in the self defence against the enemies of Islam and for the purposes of establishing peace and security. It was no part of the purpose of taking it up to have recourse to coercion in the matter of faith.

Pakistan is going through the most critical state. Muslims are killing Muslims on a daily basis. May Allah guide Pakistanis, whether they are Sunni, Shia, Ahmadi, Qadyani, Punjabi, Pashto, Baloch, Sindhi, Mohajir. They must accept they are all Muslims, brothers and sisters to each other. At this time they are fighting with each other like Pre-Islamic Beduins. They have to change and be true Muslims.

By speaking the truth you have moved us all and you have inspired us all as well. It is people like you who are the shining light for our country where day after day the flame of what can be called a civilized life gets dimmer and dimmer.
What you have touched on is the most simple and basic idea of humanity. There is no ideas as fundamental as this. It does not even have to be taught. It is in us since the day we were born. We are just so bomarded by distractions and complex philosophies that we begin to forget about it. Basic humanity has nothing to do with a country, a religion, ethnicity, money or even an education.
By speaking the truth you have shown real greatness. What I saw in you is true leadership. Step into your leadership boldly and show the light to all of us who have access to your writings and also to the unfortunate masses of our country who do not.
Cannot thank you enough.
