Bhalla for strict action against illegal occupants of Nazool property

JAMMU, APRIL 15 –The Minister for Revenue, Relief and Rehabilitation, Mr Raman Bhalla took stock of the Nazool property in Jammu city, at a meeting attended amongst others by the Deputy Commissioner, Jammu, Mr M K Dwivedi, Settlement Officer, Mr Mohd Salim, ACR, Jammu, Mr Inderjeet, AC (Nazool), Mr Rajinder Singh Tara and others.

Several issues pertaining to the proper maintenance and management of the Nazool property in Jammu were discussed.

Underling the importance of efficient management of the Nazool property, the Minister expressed concern over the complaints about the change in entries of Nazool property without proper sanction of the competent authority. It was pointed out that there have been reports in a section of the media that properties worth crores of rupees have changed hands by effecting registration on the basis of forged documents etc.

The Minister stressed the need for maintaining up-to-date database of the properties of the Nazool and also directed the DC, Jammu to constitute a committee under his chairmanship consisting of AC (R), Jammu, AC (Nazool) Jammu and representatives of Municipal Corporation, Jammu etc, to assess, survey and enquire into the revenue records pertaining to the Nazool property, and asked for submitted the report within a week. He also directed Deputy Commissioner, Jammu to identify illegal occupants of such Nazool property, other than those who have applied under the Roshni Scheme and take necessary action under law against such illegal occupants.

Discussing the issue of drought relief, the Minister expressed concern over the reported failure of rabi crops ell. It may be recalled that in view of scanty rainfall during the Kharief last year, the Government had declared 18 districts of the state as drought hit and at present free ration is being disbursed in these districts.

The Minister emphasized that while assessing the damages, the revenue functionaries should remain extra vigilant so that no deserving family is left out of the purview of the relief and ensure proper projection of the damages to the concerned quarters. He also warned that strict action shall be taken against those who will show any dereliction towards their duties.

The Minister also reviewed the progress of the settlement operations in Jammu and directed to issue passbooks to the owners wherever the settlement operations have been completed. He also desired that de-notification be issued promptly as soon as the settlement operation is completed in a village so that further action in the matter can be taken by the concerned revenue authorities.
